PTFE extruders are used to form the high-performance plastic polytetrafluoroethylene into defined shapes – primarily hoses, profiles, and insulation. Because PTFE behaves differently than typical thermoplastics, the extrusion process is also specially adapted.

Special feature of the PTFE extrusion process
Unlike conventional plastics, PTFE is not simply melted and extruded because it does not exhibit normal melt flow. Instead, the following methods are used:- Paste extrusion (cold extrusion): PTFE powder is mixed with a lubricant and pressed.
- subsequentsintering (heating), to achieve the final strength
